Biella: Shopping and Culture

Arrive in Biella in the morning, and enjoy the tour of the lower town (Biella Piano) with the Baptistery and Romanesque bell tower of St Stephen, the cathedral, the basilica of St Sebastian and the convent of the same name which is now the Territorial Museum.



With the cableway you’ll be able to ride to upper Biella’s Piazzo district, founded on the hill to the west of the town in 1160.  
Please note that in ATL Biella office (the tourism local bureau) some notebook are at your disposal for a self-guided tours of the city. This renting service is free, you’ll be asked to leave your ID card for deposit.

Ricetto di Candelo: one of the most beautiful “borgo” in Italy

Arrive in Candelo (4 km) and visit the medieval Ricetto, one of the most beautiful and best-preserved fortified villages in Italy. The Ricetto (the word means refuge, shelter) was built by the population of Candelo in the 13th and 14th centuries. They sheltered in it in times of war. In times of peace, it was used to store food and, above all, as the village wine cellar.
